ATSU-KCOM’s Dr. Karen Snider receives AOA Distinguished Service award

Karen Snider, DO, FAAO, FNAOME, professor and assistant dean for osteopathic principles & practice integration at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM), has received the 2023 Distinguished Service award from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA)

She was formally recognized during the 2023 AOA House of Delegates annual meeting on Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Chicago. 

The Distinguished Service Award is the AOA’s highest honor and recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions toward advancing osteopathic medicine through their leadership, excellence, achievement, and dedication.

Dr. Snider was honored for her exemplary service and dedication to the osteopathic medical profession throughout her career.

She has received numerous awards and recognitions for her work in neuromusculoskeletal medicine and osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM). In 2017, she was awarded fellowship in the National Association of Osteopathic Medical Educators (NAOME), within the Educational Leadership category, and in 2015, became a fellow in the American Academy of Osteopathy (FAAO).

Currently, Dr. Snider serves on the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) Board of Trustees, as well as on the board of the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.

She received her doctor of osteopathic medicine from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998, and began her career at ATSU in 2001 as an assistant professor of OMM.
