ATSU-ASDOH students win first place in annual Pontics and Politics debate

Dental students from A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) faced off against students from Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine-Arizona on Saturday Oct, 18, 2025, earning first place at the annual Pontics and Politics debate.

ASDOH and MWU students engaged in a spirited debate on some of the most pressing issues in dentistry. The debate encourages students to explore policy topics, practice professional discourse, and gain experience relevant to future clinical and leadership roles.

After a dynamic and well-argued dialogue, ATSU-ASDOH received two top awards. The team was named best debate team, and the award for best individual debater went to Kylesh Sharma, D3. Additional ATSU-ASDOH student debaters included Claire Murphy, D1, AnnEstelle “Monty” Montalbano, D2, and Analise Nicholson, D3.
