Learn more about ASDOH dean, honored at SHM graduation

ATSU President Jack Magruder honored ASDOH Dean and 2010 SHM commencement speaker Jack Dillenberg, D.D.S., M.P.H., with a proclamation at the School of Health Management’s June commencement.

Dr. Magruder cited the dean’s nearly 40-year career in the public and private sectors, government, military, private practice, and higher education, both domestically and overseas.

The president also recognized Dr. Dillenberg for:

• his work with the underserved, including the disabled in Connecticut, the poor in Calcutta, and the indigent in Jamaica-West Indies

• his passion for and expertise in oral health and whole person care, which has been recognized through prestigious awards by the Harvard School of Public Health, the American Dental Association, the Centers for Disease Control, the New York University College of Dentistry, the Arizona Department of Health Services, and the Arizona Medical Association

• his efforts, which have affected countless thousands of people, while serving in key positions with the American Association of Public Health Dentistry, the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research, the Robert Wood Johnson National Smoking Cessation Leadership Center, the Gompers Center for the Handicapped, the Arizona Office of Dental Health, the Arizona Department of Health Services,
and the World Bank

• his service as founding dean of ATSU’s Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health — the first dental school in Arizona, the only dental school with “oral health” in its name, and a school that has achieved national prominence for innovation and excellence

“Dr. Dillenberg possesses boundless energy, enthusiasm, and good humor, coupled with his lifelong commitment to serving the public,” President Magruder said. “I thank him for his selfless service to the people of the world, the nation, and this university.”
