Posted: October 6, 2026In the spring/summer 2026 issue of Still Magazine, we asked readers to share who influenced them the most during their ATSU education. The responses highlighted some of the beloved former professors from ATSU’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
From Jack Stinogel, DO, ’84
Influencer: Pressley Crummy, PhD, former anatomy professor
“He had a quiet, easy-going mannerism. He was always positive and encouraging. A very kind man! I was always impressed how he could dissect with his bare hands and his anatomy knowledge.”
From David Glickman, DO, ’61
Influencer: Max Gutensohn, DO, ’41,
former president and professor emeritus of internal medicine
“It was Dr. Max Gutensohn. He overcame many physical and social handicaps to become the physician he was.”
From Margaret Wilson, DO, ’82
Influencer: Delbert Maddox, DO, ’55, former professor and head of general practice
“Dr. Delbert Maddox greatly influenced me during my years at ATSU-KCOM. He was a role model and mentor who significantly shaped my decision to become a family medicine physician. He was truly the compassionate, caring doctor who took care of the whole family (which he did for my parents, siblings, grandparents, and me as a kid growing up in Kirksville). He created the Rural Clinic system for ATSU-KCOM and gave so much of his service to the community as a whole through clubs and other activities.”
