A unique perspective
For Michael Musso, OMS I and KCOM class of 2013 representative, photography is part of the family. His father is an avid photographer and “always has a camera with him to document our family outings,” Musso says.
Although his interest stemmed from his dad’s hobby, Musso was attracted to photography “because it literally allows me to show my perspective to others,” he says. “I try to see the image before putting the camera’s viewfinder to my eye and, if it looks the same when I do, it truly captures my perception. The image is always open to interpretation, but I want people to see what I am seeing.”

Musso says his photography doesn’t directly relate to his studies but “is definitely an escape from the classroom. I like to shoot nature more than any other subject, and so it allows me to get outdoors and away from the breakout rooms!”
Musso shoots with two different cameras, a Canon EOS Rebel and a Nikon D60.
