Suzewits appointed KCOM acting dean
Posted: December 11, 2010On December 10, ATSU President Jack Magruder appointed Jeffrey Suzewits, D.O., ’88, as acting dean of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine until June 30, 2011.
Dr. Suzewits has been with ATSU since June 2006 serving as associate dean for Clinical Educational Affairs and OPTIK. He is an associate professor in the department of Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and Community Health. Prior to coming to KCOM, Dr. Suzewits served in many capacities at the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
Dr. Suzewits is a 1988 graduate of KCOM, completed his residency at the Springfield Family Practice Residency Program at the SIU School of Medicine, and is a fellow with the American Academy of Family Physicians. He also completed a master’s in public health from the University of Illinois – Springfield.
“I am confident that Dr. Suzewits will carry out his new duties in an exemplary manner,” Dr. Magruder said. “Please join me in welcoming him to his new role as acting dean of KCOM, the founding institution of osteopathic medicine.”
Dr. Suzewits began his duties December 13.
