SOMA student awarded AACOM internship in D.C.

Melissa Blessing, OMS III

Melissa Blessing, OMS III, has been selected for the Osteopathic Health Policy Intern (OHPI) Program for 2012 by the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM). The OHPI Program enables up to three osteopathic medical students each year to have internships in the government relations department at the AACOM headquarters.

Blessing will be an intern for two months in Washington, D.C., at the AACOM headquarters during her fourth year with SOMA. “I will learn about health policy by meeting with federal agency policymakers, attending hearings on Capitol Hill and other meetings, and by conducting my own health policy research project,” she said.
