Park published in AJO-DO and JDE

Dr. Jae Hyun Park

Jae Hyun Park, DMD, MSD, MS, PhD, director of the postgraduate orthodontic program at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, was recently published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Park’s article, “Unilateral delayed eruption of a left mandibular permanent canine, maxillary first and second molars, and agenesis of the maxillary third molar,” was co-authored by Kiyoshi Tai and Seiji Iida.

Suri et al, reported that right-left variations in eruption timing are minimal in most patients except when there are tumors or hemifacial microsomia or macrosomia. In his study, he reported unilateral delayed eruptions of permanent teeth and discussed careful and accurate diagnosis and treatment planning which will allow the clinician to perform orthodontic treatment at the proper stage and might reduce the duration of orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Park’s other article “Identification of supernumerary teeth in 2D and 3D: Review of literature and a proposal,” was published this month in the Journal of Dental Education. It was co-authored by Leo Toureno, Robert A. Cederberg, Eui Hwan Hwang, and Je-Won Shin. This article proposes a guideline to locate and identify supernumerary teeth in two and three dimensions, which may reduce treatment errors and improve communication among healthcare providers and third-party administrators.
