Cory Jenkins, a 2007 graduate of ATSU-ASHS’ Physician Assistant program, lost his life last week in Afghanistan when his Stryker armored vehicle was destroyed by an improvised explosive device. Three other soldiers were also killed.

“It’s always hard to hear of a soldier’s death – but even more heartbreaking to watch him become a graduate PA, a father, and a soldier, and then lose him suddenly,” said Randy Danielsen, Ph.D., PA-C, DFAAPA, dean of the Arizona School of Health Sciences.

“As a veteran I honor his memory, as a University we honor his dedication and service,” he continued. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and classmates.”

Jenkins, a native of Mesa, Ariz., is survived by his wife, Brooke, and nine-week-old daughter Reagan. He was assigned to the Stryker Brigade out of Fort Lewis, Wash.
