Several alumni and students from A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) were recognized for exemplary leadership and service during the Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) 2016 Missouri Osteopathic Annual Convention. ATSU-KCOM Dean Margaret Wilson, DO, ’82, was honored with the Medallion Award among other ATSU alumni including Victoria Damba, DO, ’97, and Jeffrey Dryden, DO, ’82. “What a great surprise and honor to receive the MAOPS Medallion Award in recognition of service to the profession and osteopathic education,” said Dr. Wilson. “I am very appreciative for what MAOPS does to support our college, students, and alumni in achieving success as osteopathic physicians.” Jeffrey Davis, DO, ’00, was named president of MAOPS for the 2016-17 term. Mark Pelikan, DO, ’99, served as president for the 2015-16 term and was on hand to turn over the gavel of presidency of MAOPS to Dr. Davis. As president, Dr. Davis will ensure the association adheres to its mission and vision through its strategies, and he will also lead the Missouri Delegates to the American Osteopathic Association’s House of Delegates. MAOPS also recognized Larry McIntire, DO, ’71, with the Physician of the Year award. In addition to all the alumni who were recognized, current ATSU-KCOM students were also honored. Jennifer Petty, fellow, received an award as Advocate of the Year and was recognized as a Wetzel Scholar. Stacy Reichel, OMS IV, was recognized as a Graduating Wetzel Scholar. MAOPS has been the voice of osteopathic physicians in Missouri since 1897 and serves as advocates for the osteopathic profession at the local, state, and federal level.
