Kirkwood selected for Harvard program
Posted: April 19, 2010Mark Kirkwood, OMS I at ATSU-KCOM, was selected for and provided a full scholarship for the Harvard University summer research training program in sleep medicine, geared toward minority medical students. The Program for Training in Sleep, Circadian and Respiratory Neurobiology is a two- to three-month training experience that provides expert training in physiology and pathophysiology in both human and experimental animal models of human sleep disorders, and specific training in molecular and genetic approaches to the study of sleep and circadian rhythm disorders.
The program parallels a student’s medical school training and is designed to provide a structured, comprehensive opportunity to train outstanding individuals for academic positions with specific expertise in basic science, patient-oriented or applied research.
