KCOM alumnus gifts books to Missouri campus library
Posted: November 4, 2013
Nils A. Olson, KCOM ’73, recently made possible the gift of several new reference books to the ATSU Memorial library, Missouri campus. The books will benefit the departments of pharmacology, microbiology, and anatomy. Several books on healthcare improvement, management and policy were included in the list at the request of Dr. Patricia Sexton, associate dean of curriculum.
Library director Jean Sidwell worked closely with Dr. Olson to identify and procure books requested by various department professors. “There were immediate needs for current references that we were able to meet because of Dr. Olson’s generosity,” said Sidwell.
Dr. Olson will be retiring soon from full-time general practice in Mercer, Wisc. His family legacy at ATSU-KCOM includes his father, John C. Olson, ’39 and his son, Erik A. Olson, ’08, a brother and an uncle. Dr. Olson presented the books to Jean Sidwell during his visit to campus for Founder’s Day and CME events.
