Posted: January 28, 2011The United Health Foundation recently expanded this program by providing an additional $50,000 loanship to a qualifying ASDOH graduating dentist in 2010-11. The loan recipient will get $25,000 to repay his or her student loan at the end of each year for two years.
Kate Rubin, UHF president, says the funding is a natural for the foundation’s commitment to improving access to quality care for underserved communities, as well as the development of an engaged, diverse health workforce.
“There is a real shortage of dental care professionals available to underserved and underinsured communities. A lack of care can quickly progress to more severe health issues,” Rubin says. “We believe this funding will work to improve access and quality of care for these communities, ultimately having a positive impact on the overall health of the community.”
