Karen T. Snider, DO, FAAO, FNAOME, assistant dean, curriculum, was elected to the board of trustees of the American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO).
AAO is the largest medical society in the United States devoted to fostering osteopathic manipulative medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine (NMM/OMM). Dr. Snider was one of two osteopathic physicians to be newly elected as a trustee and will serve a three-year term.
Dr. Snider graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. After graduation, she completed an NMM/OMM residency at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, and has worked at A.T. Still University’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine since completing her residency.
In 2004, Dr. Snider won the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from the state of Missouri, and in 2015, she became a fellow of AAO.
“AAO is uniquely suited to be able to provide faculty development and resident training in osteopathic principles and practice (OPP) to osteopathically recognized residency programs,” says Dr. Snider. “By providing on-demand education programs in addition to traditional conferences, AAO can reach across specialties to provide OPP training to the next generation of physicians.”
