Geoffrey W. Hoffa, DHSc, ’14, MS, PA-C, ’00, was recently named physician assistant (PA) of the year by the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants (ASAPA). Dr. Hoffa serves on the A.T. Still University-Arizona School of Health Sciences Alumni Chapter Board of Directors and is an adjunct faculty member in the PA program.
Dr. Hoffa is a proven leader and advocate for the PA profession, not only in Arizona, but nationwide. As an instructor of medicine at Mayo Clinic, he was the first PA to be granted associate membership in the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He is also a fellow of the ASAPA, and a distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Dr. Hoffa’s tenure as chair of the Arizona Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants has been the single greatest period of growth for the profession in Arizona. Under his leadership the board has established itself as a legitimate force in state government, championing important legislation that has furthered the profession, setting an example for the rest of the country.
“Dr. Hoffa is a tireless leader, an advocate for the profession both here and in Washington, and an example of what all of us should aspire to accomplish,” says John Shaff, PA-C, DFAAPA, president of the ASAPA.
