Dr. Cruz receives the 2018 Distinguished Service Award from ATSU-ASHS

Cynthia Cruz, DPT, ’15, received the 2018 Distinguished Service Award from A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) Alumni Chapter Board. The award honors ATSU-ASHS graduates who have attained local, national, or international distinction.

Dr. Cruz’s contributions to her field include educating students, alumni, and clinical instructors about advanced degrees in physical therapy. She has encouraged over 30 physical therapists in Puerto Rico to pursue a doctorate, elevating the profession and improving patient care.

Within the past year, Dr. Cruz has earned two prestigious awards for her service. She received the Distinguished Faculty Service Award from the University of Puerto Rico School of Health Professions. At the national level, the Federation State Boards of Physical Therapy honored her with the Outstanding Service Award for her “significant contribution to the Federation through current volunteer work as the Resolutions Committee chair and for her commitment to increasing Puerto Rico’s involvement with the Federation.”

In addition to her professional accomplishments, she volunteers and is serving as secretary of the board of directors for the Hogar del Nino Ave Maria, a home for abused children.

Congratulations to Dr. Cruz on this well-deserved recognition!
