DPAD prepares students and families for disaster
Posted: March 29, 2011KCOM’s national osteopathic honor fraternity Sigma Sigma Phi hosted Disaster Preparedness & Awareness Day (DPAD) on March 26 in the school’s parking lot. Open to ATSU’s Missouri campus and the Kirksville community, the event highlighted how emergency medical services in Kirksville respond to emergencies and how families can prepare themselves for an emergency. Attendees learned how to build their own Emergency Preparedness Kits, watched a disaster simulation by KCOM and Northeast Regional Medical Center, watched the fire departments and ambulance perform a motor vehicle accident extraction with the “Jaws of Life,” toured the Air Evac helicopter, and had a meet and greet with local emergency departments.
