Cyclists for change
Posted: June 7, 2010A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) Arizona Health & Technology Park partner HealthSouth was a motivational pit stop for three amputee bicycle riders from Amputees Across America on June 11. The riders, John Cool, Abel Cruz, and Joe Sapere, rode past ATSU’s campus as part of their 3,500-mile trip in an effort to increase public awareness of amputees as active participants in high-intensity activities and provide strength for those who are overcoming physical challenges due to illness and injury. They stopped at HealthSouth to share their stories and inspiration with the community and patients.
The ride marks the ninth annual journey for Amputees Across America, but the first time they have made an appearance at the Health & Technology Park. The riders can be tracked via their blog on their coast-to-coast excursion where they will stop at 20 HealthSouth hospitals.
