Baking and bowling for a cause

[cincopa 10772345]

The Athletic Training Student Association (ATSA) raised close to $300 by selling baked goods for the Bowl for Brain Injury event.

The Brain Injury Association of Arizona (BIAAZ) hosted the bowling event at three lanes in Mesa, Scottsdale, and Glendale, Ariz., on Sept. 25. ATSU’s Athletic Training program had five teams represented at the Mesa lanes.

“I am thrilled to see how much the ATSA and the Athletic Training program embraced this event,” says Tamara Valovich McLeod, Ph.D., ATC, associate professor, athletic training.  “Athletic trainers are keenly aware of the sport-related concussion issue and some of the money the BIAAZ raised through this event will be put towards concussion education and awareness programs.”

The entire event raised approxiametly $80,000, which will support BIAAZ’s programs and services, including the newly founded Sport Concussion Coalition of Arizona.
