For the third year, ATSU physician assistant (PA) students, alumni, and pre-PA students provided first-aid services at a local karate tournament, supporting the non-profit ASO/USA Karate program serving students and adults from across Arizona.
The event was the Glendale Karate Tournament, a regional match. The tournament was a great warm-up for the Arizona Karate Championships and USA Karate National Qualifier which will be held March 8, 2015.
A high school student from the Navajo Nation shadowed ATSU PA Native Tract graduate and ASHS adjunct faculty member Sharron Cook, PA ’08. Gerry Keenan, MMS, PA-C, associate professor, ATSU-ASHS, department of physician assistant studies, was the medical director and led the support team from ATSU.
