ATSU-MOSDOH Give Kids a Smile in Kirksville

A.T. Still University’s Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH), in collaboration with Affinia Healthcare, provided free dental education and restorative care to Ray Miller Elementary in Kirksville, Mo. During the all-day event ATSU-MOSDOH students and Affinia Healthcare staff provided dental services to underserved children. A total of 574 elementary students were in attendance, and all were given oral health education on various topics including: safety, careers in dentistry, systemic disease, nutrition, and preventative care. A total of 446 students received fluoride varnish applications. Other treatments and procedures also took place including: sealants, restorative work, and extractions. The estimated amount for all the services provided was $15,000.
