ATSU honors Arizona individuals and organizations for community service

Fifth annual Crystal Awards honors individuals and organizations making a difference in Arizona

MESA, Ariz. (Feb. 9, 2007) – Arizonans from across the state were honored by A.T. Still University for their commitment and dedication to improving the lives of Arizona’s citizens through creative and innovative problem solving. Thirteen individuals and organizations were honored on Feb. 9, 2007 at the J.W. Marriott Resort and Spa in Scottsdale, Ariz.

A.T. Still University’s Mesa campus is comprised of the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, Arizona’s only dental school; the Arizona School of Health Sciences; and the College of Osteopathic Medicine – Mesa. The Mesa campus was founded on serving the needs of the Arizona community, and the Crystal Awards, established in 2002, recognize the public service and dedication of those who do the same.

Each of ATSU’s Mesa campus programs – Dental, Medicine, Audiology, Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy; Physician Assistant, and Physical Therapy – awarded honorees demonstrating exemplary community service and healthcare excellence. Additionally, awards were bestowed on individuals or organizations in the following areas: individual achievement, business, nonprofit, public agency, civic organization, and media.

“A.T. Still University has become a community resource for health professionals, health information, and health professions educators,” says Craig Phelps, D.O., FAOASM, provost of A.T. Still University’s Mesa campus. “Hosting the annual Crystal Awards further supports our communities through the state. It is an honor to have the opportunity to thank those who are practicing what we are educating our students to do – giving back to the community.”
