ATSU board welcomes new members, appoints officers

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The A.T. Still University (ATSU) Board of Trustees met July 27-28 in Santa Fe, N.M., to elect new members and appoint officers at its quarterly meeting.

New board members are Isaac R. Navarro, DMD, ’08, of Visalia, Calif., and G. Scott Drew, DO, FAOCD, ’87, of Marion, Ohio.

ATSU President Craig Phelps, DO, FAOASM, ’84, says, “We are honored to welcome Drs. Navarro and Drew as members of the Board of Trustees. As alumni, they can draw from their experiences as former students and now practicing healthcare professionals and help the Board advance the mission of the University.”

Dr. Navarro, a 2008 graduate of ATSU’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, is the Medical Director of Family Health Care Network in Woodlake, Ivanhoe, and Three Rivers, Calif.

Dr. Drew, a 1987 graduate of ATSU’s Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, is a practicing, board certified dermatologist, has been a member of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association (KOAA) Board of Trustees since 2004, and served as KOAA president from 2010-11.

The following continuing board members were appointed as officers: Clyde H. Evans, PhD, of Needham, Mass., is chair, Robert W. Uhl of Phoenix, Ariz., is vice chair, and James Cannon, DHA, PA-C, ’97, of Chesapeake, Va., is the newly appointed secretary.

“As chair, I look forward to working with new and returning board members to continue the tradition of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still and to bring our University to even greater prominence,” says Dr. Evans.

Members named to serve on the Audit Team include: Reid W. Butler, JD, chair, of Phoenix, Ariz.; Ronald W. Winkler of Kirksville, Mo.; Clyde H. Evans, PhD, and Robert W. Uhl.

The following will also continue their service on the Board: Manuel C. Bedoya, DMD, of Tucson, Ariz; Daniel L. Biery, DO, FACOI, FACG, ’72, of Phelps, N.Y.; Chester W. Douglass, DMD, PhD, MPH, of Newton, Mass.; Stanley E. Grogg, DO, FACOP, FAAP, ’71, of Tulsa, Okla.; Robert L. King, JD, of Lexington, Ky.; Paul A. Lines, DDS, MS, of Tempe, Ariz.; and Dorothy M. Munch, DO, ’85, of Williamsville, Mo. The Board of Trustees is comprised of 14 members.

Dr. Evans and Dr. Phelps expressed their appreciation to ATSU Board of Trustees members who completed their term of service at the July meeting. Those included Cynthia D. Byler, DO, ’95, MPH, ’04, of St. Louis, Mo.; Kenneth A. Burdick, JD, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Carl G. Bynum, DO, ’75, MPH, of Jefferson City, Mo.; and John G. Robinson of Scottsdale, Ariz.

The next board meeting is scheduled during Founder’s Day, October 26-27, 2012, in Kirksville, Mo.
