ATSU-ASHS student elected to APTA student boardPosted: November 16, 2017
Ariana Jones, DPT, ‘18, was recently elected to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Student Assembly Board as the director of membership.
When electing new board members, the APTA looks for outstanding members with strong communication and leadership skills, who are committed to positively impacting the physical therapy community.
Jones is the first student from A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) physical therapy program to hold this office. She will spend her time as director of membership improving current initiatives and fostering new ideas, educating the public about the importance of membership, and helping students as they transition into careers.
“I originally applied because I have been involved at the school and state level, and I really wanted to make a difference at the national level,” says Jones. “I am passionate about improving the experience for students in programs across the country and promoting the benefits of our professional organization. It’s an amazing honor to be elected to a national position by my peers, and I look forward to representing ATSU well. I still have a lot to learn about national involvement, but I am ready for the challenge and humbled by the opportunity.”
