For the second year, A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) students and faculty collaborated with Midwestern University dental students and faculty to serve children from Title 1 schools across the valley. The two universities held a back to school clothing drive with dental care from July 17th -20th at Grand Canyon University.
Over 3,000 children visited the event to receive new uniforms, shoes, and backpacks filled with schools supplies. About 1,000 children received dental screenings, fluoride varnish application, and referrals to low-cost dental clinics. In addition, each child received brushing education, nutritional education, and activities on sugar foods.
