A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health Dean Jack Dillenberg DDS, MPH, and Director of Research Ann Spolarich, PhD, RDH, spoke during the American Dental Association annual session on October 22 in Denver, which was attended by ASDOH alumni, students, and friends.
Notable achievements by ASDOH alumni presented at the event included:
- Clark Chen, DMD, ’12 and his team have been doing tremendous things for the prosthodontics department at ASDOH – not only did they earn a $5,000 ATSU Spark Tank grant this year to fabricate eight CAD/CAM dentures as a pilot program, but the class of 2016 also included three graduates who were accepted into prosthodontic residencies, the largest single-class number in ASDOH’s history.
- From the 10 ASDOH graduating classes, there are 89 pediatric dentists and 24 maxillofacial surgeons in the ASDOH alumni family.
- Jonny Brennan, MD, DMD, ’12, MPH, ’11 has been leading efforts in adopting and integrating digital dentistry techniques at ASDOH, including identifying funding sources for various capital equipment, infrastructure improvements, and ongoing support costs. Additionally, ASDOH is working with partners to develop the next generation of cloud-based Dentrix Ascend dental school software.
- Dr. Spolarich is happy to welcome ASDOH alumni and friends to the Dental Research Scientific Symposium, January 21, 2017 – presentations from nationally-renowned speakers will include current topics in oral cancer screening and detection, dental composite restorative materials, best practices for managing diabetes, oral health considerations for patients in the ICU, and increasing student engagement in evidence-based decision-making. To learn more about the symposium, please contact Dr. Spolarich at aspolarich@atsu.edu.
- Our 2017 ASDOH Alumni Weekend will be held February 17-18, which will include the annual Give Kids A Smile event, an alumni BBQ, and continuing dental education offerings. Additional information coming soon!
