Jae Hyun Park, DMD, MSD, MS, PhD, professor and chair, Postgraduate Orthodontic Program at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health, recently attended the 2016 American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) Professional Advocacy Conference, Feb. 29 – March 1, in Washington D.C. According to Dr. Park, the AAO is eager to continue working with the 114th Congress on issues of importance to orthodontists as small business owners and healthcare professionals. Dr. Park is currently president of the Arizona State Orthodontic Association and Executive Committee Board Member of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists. During the conference, he visited and met with members of Congress—including Congressman Paul Gosar from Arizona—as well as Nevada, and discussed AAO legislative priorities such as tax law changes to allow all professionals who incur significant student loan debt to deduct the interest costs for those loans, regardless of the professional’s income level.
