ASDOH students’ poster presentation wins award

Two ASDOH students, Tedi Howell, D3, and Rena Christman, D3, recently were awarded third place in the national poster competition at the Special Care Dentistry Association meeting in Chicago. Their poster was entitled “C.A.R.E. Provides Dentists New Perspectives in Special Care Dentistry.”  The results demonstrated that a project of this type can increase knowledge as well as change attitudes and beliefs of participants regarding patients with special needs.

“Project C.A.R.E. was established to educate Arizona dental healthcare providers about the challenges of treating patients with special healthcare needs and also provide solutions to possible obstacles,” said Maureen Romer, D.D.S., M.P.A., director, ASDOH special care dentistry and co-director, advanced education in general dentistry residency program.
