The Arizona Chapter of the American College of Physicians (ACP) met in Tucson, Ariz., in September and held its annual Doctor’s Dilemma Competition where three representatives of the KCOM team – Jean Hansen, OMS IV; Patrick Noonan, OMS IV; and Joshua Horowitz, OMS III –  placed fourth out of 10 teams.

Jonathan Olsen, OMS IV, took first place in the ACP poster contest, competing against two medical schools and seven residency programs. This is the second year in a row that a KCOM Arizona region student has won the poster contest. Olsen’s poster was titled Field Cancerization and Multistep Carcinogenesis: An Explanation for a Severe Case of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Olsen received $200, a plaque, and certificate.

The Arizona regional team was led by KCOM Associate Regional Dean Dr. Bob Ligorsky, Dr. Grace Stewart, Dr. Badaglialacqua, Dr. Hunsaker, Beth Schmitt, Devin Webb, and LeAnn Daniels.
