Annual run promises fun, support for good cause
Posted: January 9, 2009KIRKSVILLE, Mo. (Mar. 1, 2008 ) – The A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Advocate Association will host its annual Osteopathic Fun Run/Kid’s Run on Saturday, April 12, in Kirksville, Mo. This is the 30th annual osteopathic race held by the SAA. ATSU’s Acting President Jack Magruder is honorary chairperson at this year’s race. All race proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
The 5K/10K runs and one-mile fitness walk/run begin at 8:30 a.m. The Kid’s Run begins at 9:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Thompson Campus Center located at 210 S. Osteopathy. Early registration packets can be picked up at the Thompson Campus Center or participants can register online at www.active.com. The $12 early registration fee expires April 9 at 5 p.m. Late registration is $14. The $1 Kid’s Run registration can be completed on race day. Participants who donate a pair of old shoes will receive $1 off their registration fee. Shoes may be delivered on race day.
The Fun Run starts at the Gutensohn Clinic located at 800 W. Jefferson Street and ends at the TCC. The Kid’s Run will be on the TCC’s paved pathway.
Participants receive a free long-sleeve t-shirt as well as beverages and snacks. On-site medical services will be available, massages will be provided by Integrative Wellness Institute, and babysitting will be available during the race free of charge.
Trophies will be awarded to top male and female finishers in the 5K/10K races, and medals will be awarded to top division finishers. All participants can enter raffles to win a free night’s stay at Cottage Grove Bed & Breakfast or Super 8 in Kirksville, a KCOM hoodie, movie passes, and restaurant gift certificates.
