American Cancer Society open invitation to participate in historic research project

American Cancer Society open invitation to particpate in historic research project

Across the nation, the American Cancer Society is organizing a historic research project called Cancer Prevention Study-3.

Starting at the end of January through mid-February, the American Cancer Society is hoping to enroll thousands of Valley residents in a study that will help the American Cancer Society better understand the lifestyle, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer and will save lives.

Residents in Phoenix have an unprecedented opportunity to participate. Enrollment for the American Cancer Society’s third Cancer Prevention Study will take place from January 29th until February 19th. You can see all the locations and times of enrollment and schedule enrollment appointments by visiting cps3phoenix.org.

Individuals between the ages of 30 and 65 who have never been diagnosed with cancer and are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study are encouraged to sign up. Those who choose to enroll will simply fill out a comprehensive survey packet about health history, provide a small blood sample (to be collected by trained phlebotomists) and provide a waist measure.  Participants will periodically be sent a follow-up questionnaire for the next 20 to 30 years.
