Alumni and students meet during AOMA Convention
Posted: April 26, 2016
KCOM and SOMA alumni, students, and friends joined ATSU President Craig Phelps, DO, ’84, and SOMA Dean Jeffrey Morgan, DO, during the 2016 AOMA Convention held in Scottsdale, Arizona. The following is a summary of the updates shared:
- ATSU is proud to call our alumni and students the physicians of the future. We are often told by employers that they are very happy with their ATSU hires and that they look specifically for ATSU graduates when filling positions.
- One of our SOMA students graduating this year, Tim Lemaire, was named the National Student DO of the Year by the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents, and we could not be more proud! This year’s award nominees were critiqued on an essay reflecting their own resiliency during their medical education and how it will empower them as a physician.
- Many thanks to KCOM alumna Kristin Nelsen, DO, ’99, who served as President of the AOMA this year! The many initiatives she worked on include working with the AOA to bring the Doctors That DO campaign to Arizona to raise awareness about what makes osteopathic medicine unique.
