Au.D. class of 2012 celebrates at White Coat Ceremony
Posted: October 20, 2009A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) Doctor of Audiology program celebrated its second year students at the White Coat Ceremony held on the ATSU’s Arizona campus on October 17. The ceremony symbolizes the transition of the students from didactic studies to a concentration on laboratory course work and clinical experiences.
“The White Coat Ceremony represents our wish to help our students expand their clinical knowledge and provide the best possible audiologic care to all of their patients,” said Audiology Chair Tabitha Parent Buck, Au.D.
Fourteen students received their white coats during the ceremony. Keynote speaker Gail Padish-Clarin, Au.D., spoke on how a career in audiology will serve to enrich the students’ lives every day. “You’ll never forget the first time a patient hears his parents say ‘I love you,’” said Dr. Padish-Clarin. “The patients have entrusted you with their care and you will forever be a changed person because of that.”
The Au.D. program is a four-year post baccalaureate program. Graduates of the program are eligible for state licensure in audiology.
