ATSU-ASHS faculty and alumnae present at the 5th International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport

Melissa Kay at the 5th International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport

Alumnae and faculty of A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences’ athletic training department presented posters on research related to concussions at the 5th International Consensus Conference on Concussion in Sport in October 2016 in Berlin, Germany.

Tamara Valovich McLeod, PhD, ATC, director of athletic training; Cailee Welch Bacon, PhD, ATC, assistant professor of athletic training; Melissa Kay, MS, AT, ‘15; and Michelle Weber, MS, AT, ‘14 all presented at the conference held every 3-4 years to develop consensus guidelines to inform clinicians diagnosis, management, and treatment of sport-related concussions. Their research focused on a variety of topics related to concussions: adolescent concussions, returning to activity after concussions, youth sports concussions and healthcare and school personnel knowledge of concussions.
