Posted: November 25, 2019
Recently with the help of A.T. Still University (ATSU) and the library, Debra Loguda-Summers, CLSS, public services & 3D print services manager; Jamie Carroll, senior graphic artist; Zachary Headman, OSM IV; and Marcus Matson, OSM IV; applied for a patent for their “Systems and Methods for Injection Placement Training” models. The group has been working on this project since 2017.
A research study was created to study with the help of Tatyana Kondrashova, PhD, associate professor; Robert Schneider, DO, residency supervisor; and James Potter, DO, associate professor; on “Innovative Spine and Pelvic Models for the Joint Injection Techniques Training.”
The study started thanks to a $5,000 grant from ATSU’s Teaching and Learning Center’s Spark Tank competition, which the group won in 2017.
The goal of the study was to evaluate the perception of 3D printed lumbar, cervical, and pelvic models for mastering joint injection techniques using ultrasound needle guidance. Results were presented at several conferences last year, and the group is awaiting the publication of their research paper.
