Women for ATSU hold luncheon to bring awareness to concussion research

Tamara Valovich-McLeod, PhD, ATC, FNATA, professor and director of athletic training programs at A.T. Still University, and Javier Cárdenas, MD, were the featured speakers at Women for ATSU’s community luncheon and presentation on Thurs., Feb. 2, focused on concussions.

Held at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas, the luncheon was attended by nearly 150 people including ATSU faculty, staff, and guests. Drs. McLeod and Cárdenas presented some of their latest research into concussion causes as well as best practice recommendations for treatment and recovery. With more than 8,000 concussions leading to ER visits on a daily basis, education and information for concussion prevention and care is on the minds of the parents and coaches of young athletes.

Women for ATSU strives to provide awareness and philanthropic support to A.T. Still University by supporting ATSU’s programs and students.
