ATSU partnership offers youth an opportunity to learn about careers in healthcare

A.T. Still University (ATSU), in partnership with Cartwright School District and Aguila Youth Leadership Institute of Phoenix, announced a new collaboration offering students an opportunity to learn about future careers in healthcare. The announcement comes after Cartwright School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted their support of ATSU’s Health Professions Explorers Program (HPE), which will introduce junior high and high school students, as well as their parents, to various health professions programs offered by ATSU. The first HPE session is scheduled to start in September. “We are pleased and excited for the opportunity to introduce the Health Professions Explorers Program to the children of Cartwright School District,” said Clinton Normore, ATSU’s associate vice president for diversity & inclusion. “The goal of the program is to nurture student learning and prepare young minds for college and career success. The additional support of Aguila Youth Leadership Institute is paramount and we couldn’t be happier to have established such a robust partnership.” Through the HPE program, Cartwright School District students enrolled in Aguila Youth Leadership Institute, and who have expressed an interest working with underserved communities, will discover options for pursuing healthcare as a profession through available programs offered at ATSU. Throughout the HPE experience, students will participate in orientation activities to gain a broader knowledge of health professions careers. “ATSU is appreciative of this meaningful opportunity to partner with Cartwright School District and Aguila Youth Leadership Institute,” said ATSU President, Craig Phelps, DO, FAOASM, ’84. “The University looks forward to contributing positively to the education of Cartwright School students.”
