Or perhaps it is that D.O.s possess an innate passion for service – especially service at the nation’s calling. Over the last decade, the number of KCOM military graduates has jumped from one in 2000 to 21 in 2010; 2006 boasts the largest number with 31 graduates entering military medicine. Supply and demand According to Ron Gaber, Ed.S., vice president for student/alumni affairs, ATSU has the largest numbers of military graduates of any medical school, with the exception of Uniformed Services University. “More important is the outstanding reputation our military graduates have in the military services: thus they want and appreciate our graduates,” he said. Flag officer commission grads Major General Douglas J. Robb commissioned the 21 military graduates following commencement. Maj. Gen. Robb is the Command Surgeon, Headquarters Air Mobility Command (AMC), Scott Air Force Base, Ill. Gen. Robb oversees the healthcare services provided by 6,500 AMC medical personnel located at 11 community-based military treatment facilities. He is a graduate of the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and is board certified in Aerospace Medicine. Maj. Gen. Robb also addressed the Missouri campus prior to graduation with a lecture on “Continuum of Care: From battlefield to home station.”
