Love Data Week 2023

Celebrate Love Data Week with the library! This year’s Love Data Week takes place from Feb. 13-17. Throughout the week, the library will be hosting a series of workshops on how to manage, share, and use research data.

What is Love Data Week? Love Data Week is a weeklong, international celebration of research data and its myriad of uses and potential. This week’s theme, Data: Agent of Change, highlights the importance of using data to bring about meaningful change through research and practice. The library is thrilled to have an opportunity to share our expertise in research data management and help our students and faculty use data effectively in their own research and practice.

During Love Data Week, we will be hosting two online workshops designed to help researchers manage and share their own data, as well as find and use data shared by others.

Our first workshop, Making Your Data FAIR, will introduce the FAIR principles. FAIR is a set of guiding principles that will help you share your data in such a way that makes it easy for others to find and use your data. No prior knowledge of data sharing is required. Join us via Zoom at 12:00 p.m. CST/11:00 a.m. MST/10:00 a.m. PST on Tuesday, Feb. 14 to learn more. Registration is required to attend. If you are applying for or have received NIH grant funding, this may be particularly helpful in meeting funder data sharing requirements.

Our second workshop, Finding and Using Public Datasets, will go over the essentials of how to find and use datasets for your own research. This includes techniques for finding datasets and data repositories, introducing key data repositories, and explaining the role of copyright and licensing in using data. No prior knowledge or experience with using data is required. If you would like to learn more, join us via Zoom at 12:00 p.m. CST/11:00 a.m. MST/10:00 a.m. PST on Thursday, Feb. 16. Registration is required to attend.

If you cannot make one or both of the workshops, please register and you will be sent a recording of the workshop(s) as soon as they are available.

If you would like to learn more about managing your research data, sharing your data, or finding datasets, check out our Research Data Management LibGuide, and reach out to your liaison librarian for help.
