KCOM students present research
Posted: June 7, 2010Three microbiology/immunology students at ATSU-KCOM recently presented research posters at national meetings.
Joseph K. Whitman, M.S. ’10, OMS I, presented “Isolation of a Ganglioside Unique to the Water-Insoluble Fraction of Ocular Lens” at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Annual Meeting held May 2-6 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Co-authors were C. Rick Fleschner, Ph.D., professor and chair, biochemistry; and Melissa K. Stuart, Ph.D., associate professor, microbiology/immunology.
Nastassia C. Richardson, a dual-degree student enrolled in both the Biomedical Sciences and D.O. programs, presented “Production of Monoclonal Antibodies to the Escherichia coli DNA Repair Protein, RadA/Sms” at the American Society for Microbiology General Meeting held May 23-27, in San Diego. Co-authors were Neil J. Sargentini, Ph.D., associate professor and chair; Vineet K. Singh, Ph.D., associate professor, and Melissa K. Stuart, Ph.D., associate professor, all from the Microbiology/Immunology department.
Kuldeep Singh, a graduate student in the Biomedical Sciences program, presented “Significance of Four Methionine Sulfoxide Reductases in Staphylococcus aureus” and “Physiological Characterization of the LytM Protein in Staphylococcus aureus” at the American Society for Microbiology meeting in San Diego. Both posters were co-authored by Vineet K. Singh, Ph.D. Kuldeep will begin the D.O. program at ATSU-KCOM this fall.
