Below is a summary of the updates shared during the reception:
- Both KCOM and SOMA continue to excel in educating highly capable and compassionate physicians, with this year’s graduates also achieving a 100 percent match rate. More than half of our graduates aim to be primary care providers, and the majority of them match into needed specialties.
- Faculty at both schools have been integrating various types of technology into the curricula to keep programs innovative, including the virtual anatomy lab and the virtual community health center, which is utilized for analyzing interrelated cases at SOMA, as well as the highly regarded ultrasound program at KCOM.
- Students are also being recognized for their work in research and holding leadership positions in numerous state and national organizations, including Danny Ebbs, OMS II, and Brenda Pecotte de Gonzalez, OMS II, in AOMA’s House of Delegates.
- We are very proud to have continued KCOM representation in AOMA leadership roles – Dr. Nally as AOMA’s current president and Dr. Nelson, who will serve as president next year.
- If there are any issues you would like the AOMA to work on, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Nelson.
