KCOM announces annual awards

A.T. Still University (ATSU) President Jack Magruder and Kirksville College of Osteopathic
Medicine (KCOM) Dean Philip Slocum, D.O., announced the annual ATSU-KCOM faculty awards.
KCOM Assistant Dean Tammy Kriegshauser was awarded top honor, winning the 12th annual Distinguished Service Award. To receive this award, one must have at least 10 years of service at ATSU and be nominated by a peer for one’sdedication and willingness to serve others, all while maintaining a positive outlook and a strong work ethic.
Nandor Uray, Ph.D., and Karen Snider, D.O., were each awarded 2009-2010 A.T. Still Staff Awards. Each year one full-time basic science and one full-time clinical faculty member are honored with the award for a number of criteria including innovative teaching efforts and respect of their peers. This is the 29th year the award was given and Uray’s second time receiving the honor (1993). Uray was also honored for 30 years of service to the University.
Associate Vice President for Institutional Advancement Randy Rogers and KCOM class of 2012 student John Thurman were honored with the 2009 Above & Beyond Humanitarian Award. This award is given to individuals who perform deeds or acts that demonstrate special caring, compassion, or support for others.
The 2009 Quarterly Excellence Award winners were Environmental Services worker Richard Chidester, Still National Osteopathic Museum Exhibit Preparator Rob Clement, Executive Secretary of Physiology Jan Dabney, and Museum Curator Debra Loguda-Summers. The Quarterly Excellence Award is given to four individuals annually who contribute a positive institutional image by their attitudes and personal actions, takes initiative in the workplace, and always maintain respect for others and their job in and outside of ATSU.
Two organizations honored this year were the Biomedical Sciences Club and Sigma Sigma Phi, the national osteopathic fraternity. These organizations received the annual Distinguished Organization Award. This award is accompanied with a $150 donation in the organization’s name to a local charity of their choice.
