Charmaine G. Ng, DMD, ’09, was named “Woman to Watch” in Incisal Edge magazine’s 7th Annual Lucy Hobbs Project.
The graduate of A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH) is dental director of HealthRIGHT 360 in San Francisco, and is described as “a professional on the rise” by the publication. Her work focuses on serving the underserved in her community and using her dental patient encounters to screen for other health issues.
“People who are underserved, people who fall through the cracks of healthcare, this is who I treat,” Dr. Ng told the magazine for its Winter 2020 edition. “Dentistry has been a way for me to serve my community.”
Dr. Lucy Hobbs was the first American woman to earn a degree in dentistry. She practiced until her death in 1910. The Lucy Hobbs Project was inaugurated by Benco Dental to celebrate women in dentistry.
“…Incisal Edge is proud each winter to recognize six women who best exemplify the tireless, pioneering spirit of Lucy Hobbs,” the magazine said.
The publication’s mission “is to address the needs of dentists both in and out of the office” and highlights “the country’s brightest rising stars.”
