February ATSU-KCOM and ATSU-MOSDOH ambassador spotlight

Each month, A.T. Still University’s (ATSU) Admissions Office in Kirksville, Missouri, will select student ambassadors to recognize and showcase. Student ambassadors are second-year students who speak and meet with prospective ATSU-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) and ATSU-Missouri School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-MOSDOH) students.
ATSU-KCOM Student Ambassador Spotlight: Jennifer Hacker
Jennifer Hacker, OMS II, completed a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in chemistry at Saginaw Valley State University. Hacker is originally from Kawkawlin, Michigan. She enjoys playing volleyball, going to the gym, and watching Disney movies with friends. Hacker’s cat, Charlie, keeps her company, as well.
Hacker is an active member of many clubs, including OBGYN club, Alpha Phi Omega, DO Care, and National Osteopathic Women Physicians Association. She is the vice president for ATSU-KCOM’s American College of Osteopathic Surgeons-Medical Student Section. She is also active in a local church and provides childcare during Sunday services.
Hacker’s hopes to become a great physician and serve those in need.
“I would like to get into cancer research at some point and be accepted into a competitive residency. ATSU is providing me with a thorough education that introduces me to multiple specialties, as well as providing me with hands-on skills to make me a competitive student for rotations and residencies,” Hacker said.
Hacker’s own experience with student ambassadors led to her desire to join the program.
“I knew I wanted to be an ATSU student ambassador after remembering how previous student ambassadors helped me. They gave me honest opinions on ATSU, advice for the medical program, told me what to expect living in Kirksville, and reassured me I could succeed,” Hacker said. “I wanted to help future students in the same way. Since becoming an ambassador, my favorite part has been meeting prospective students and passing down what I have learned, even if it has been virtually.”

ATSU-MOSDOH Student Ambassador Spotlight: Robert Thueson
Robert Thueson, D2, is from Rexburg, Idaho, and completed his bachelor’s degree in human biology at Brigham Young University – Idaho. He enjoys basketball, cooking, and spending time with his wife and two young children. Thueson is actively involved with the American Student Dental Association, the Dental Business Club, and is an active member in his church.
Thueson said ATSU is helping him toward his future goal of becoming a community leader.
“ATSU is helping me become the person I want to be by giving me lessons and experiences with diversity, inclusion, and professionalism,” he said.
Thueson decided to participate in the ATSU Student Ambassador program because he enjoys representing the school and helping newer classes.
