Dental students give Lessons in a Lunch Box
Posted: March 3, 2016
A.T. Still University’s Missouri School of Dentistry and Oral Health (ATSU-MOSOH) presented Lessons in a Lunch Box to second grade students at Kirksville Primary School. This program centers on teaching elementary school children about dental health and healthy diets. The program is also designed to encourage interest in careers in dentistry. The entire first-year ATSU-MOSDOH class helped educate the students about oral health and its importance to overall health. They incorporated a slideshow presentation and included interactive activities for the children. Along with education, students are provided lunch boxes equipped with a case, rinse cup, toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss. The Lessons in a Lunch Box program was developed by the Children’s Oral Health Institute. The program is supported through donations from dental companies and associations.
