COO visit marks ATSU scholarly activity partnership with NACHC

The National Association of Community Health Center’s (NACHC) chief operating officer, Dave Taylor, presented to faculty and staff of A.T. Still University’s Mesa campus on Thursday, October 23.

He visited with campus employees to celebrate the kick-off of ATSU’s scholarly activity partnership with NACHC, which will support the Bureau of Primary Health Care community health centers.

NACHC represents the nation’s safety-net of community health centers. These health centers receive base funding from the Public Health Service, Health Resources and Services Administration and the Bureau of Primary Health Care to improve the health status of underserved communities, provide access to health services, and offset some costs of caring for the uninsured.

NACHC and ATSU seek to foster community health scholarship to strengthen this safety-net, and ultimately improve the health status of these communities.

NACHC and the national safety-net of Community Health Centers also support ATSU in many ways, including access to clinical rotations; introductions to potential funding partners; residency development; data gathering; student scholarship opportunities; and national exposure of our schools, programs, faculty, and staff.

The partners will collaborate to market, win acceptance of concepts, gain access to data, and fund accepted scholarly proposals.

A similar event will be held on the ATSU Kirksville campus November 11, 2014, featuring Ron Yee, MD, MBA, chief medical officer of NACHC.
