ATSU-MO Campus Unity Campaign

[cincopa AAOA4ta74XB6]

The ATSU Missouri Campus Unity Campaign (joint faculty/staff and United Way Campaign) kicked off on Wednesday, September 21 with the annual Ice Cream Social. President Magruder spoke about the part each employee plays in the success of the University and its place within the community, as well as the importance of giving back to the community. He also spoke of how wonderful it is to live in Kirksville, where you can go from preschool to college to medical (and soon dental) school without leaving town.

John Dungan, executive director of the United Way of Adair County/Northeast Missouri, also spoke about the importance of donations to the United Way and the agencies that rely on those donations to serve those in need in the eight-country service area. The community campaign goal is $270,000 and the agencies served are:  Adair County YMCA, Adair County 4-H, Boy Scouts, Community Opportunities Sheltered Workshop, Girl Scouts, Hospice, Kirk-Tran, North Central Missouri Red Cross, Macon Diversified Industries, NEMO Senior Services, Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Salvation Army, and Victim Support Services.

Ice cream, provided by Hy-Vee Grocery Store, was served. A drawing for a free day off, compliments of the President’s Office, was held for those in attendance. Jason Haxton, director, Museum of Osteopathic Medicine, drew the name and Mark Burger, associate director, Development, was the winner. Approximately 75 people attended the event, which is the largest number to date.

The goal for the faculty/staff portion of the campaign is $70,000, and the United Way goal is $12,000.
