ATSU Founder’s Day activities held

12189524_10153081613176481_3923202663776764432_nOctober marked a special month for A.T. Still University as we celebrated our University’s founder – and the founder of osteopathic medicine – Dr. Andrew Taylor Still.

ATSU’s Founder’s Day festivities kicked off to a great start this year on the Missouri campus with a three-day celebration beginning Thursday, Oct. 22. Alumni, students, employees and friends of the University, participated in events including the Tinning Founder’s Day Osteopathy Lecture presented by Robert Ward, DO, FAAO. The Missouri campus also celebrated past graduates through the Alumni Recognition Ceremony (some from 50+ years ago!).

Other events included the first-year versus second-year Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine women’s flag football game; a “Behind the Scenes” tour at the Museum of Osteopathic Medicine; and the annual Still-A-Bration – a community barbeque and bonfire. Festivities concluded with the Founder’s Day 5K run and half-mile walk.

The celebration continued on the Arizona campus on Friday, Oct. 30. The Arizona campus honored Dr. Still through a week of healthy activities for fall Wellness Week, fun-filled activities for children including a Haloween costume contest, inflatables, a rock-climbing wall and opportunities for interaction with Bucky, the ATSU mascot. A cookout was also sponsored by the Student Government Association, and activities for adults ages 21 and older included a cash bar beer garden and free wine-tasting.

Here’s to our founder and all those who continue to carry on his legacy!
