A.T. Still University’s College for Healthy Communities (ATSU-CHC) Central Coast Physician Assistant (CCPA) program recently organized a blood drive on ATSU’s Santa Maria, California, campus.

On July 31, 2023, students, faculty, and staff gathered together where they spent the day donating blood to help their community. Roughly a dozen individuals contributed to these donations.

The blood drive was held in partnership with Vitalant, a nonprofit blood services provider that delivers services to patients in roughly 900 hospitals across the U.S.

According to Vitalant, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. Through this blood drive, ATSU-CHC students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to provide lifesaving blood donations that will help individuals throughout the country, with each donation potentially saving up to three lives.
