ATSU-ASHS unveils 20-year anniversary painting

On Monday, Dec. 14, A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Health Sciences (ATSU-ASHS) revealed its newest addition, a custom oil painting commissioned to commemorate the school’s 20th anniversary. The painting is titled “Making a difference in Healthcare ” and features a medley of the the health professions that embody ATSU-ASHS. Other important areas impacting the school’s 20-year evolution are also incorporated into the painting  featuring a centerpiece showcasing the Mesa campus, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, the important relationship ATSU-ASHS holds with the Mesa Fire Department, and the faculty and alumni who have served in the uniformed services of our country.

Austin Deuel, a nationally-known artist of Scottsdale was behind the painting. He is known for his military art, western genre, figure painting and sculpture murals. Friends of ATSU, including alumni, were invited to campus for a reception and unveiling ceremony. Prints of the painting will be available with proceeds going to ATSU-ASHS student scholarships.

“This painting depicts all the hard work and dedication of our faculty, staff, and students since the school’s inception in 1995,” said Randy Danielsen, PhD, PA-C, dean, ATSU-ASHS.

Dr. Danielsen ended the event with the following prediction, “As we wind down the 20th anniversary, we are primed for the next 20-plus years to continue making a difference in health professions education as we train the new leaders in healthcare.”
